Luke 14:27

²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

When Jesus told us to 'follow him' and to take up his cross daily. He didn't mean taking up the cross 'as it fit our schedule' He meant it as a daily thing. An act where we crucify our flesh and taking up our own cross as well as Jesus's cross.

Yesterday's cell group message said that the act of following Jesus requires both a destination and a journey. And Jesus is more focused on the journey rather than the destination. Because the christian life is like a gymnast walking on a thin line of rope. He must learn to balance on both sides not to fall on either side. We can learn to be too comfortable in our own four walls and isolate ourselves from the world outside, that is falling on one side of the rope. Or we can chose to ignore the love the Father has poured out for us, that too is falling on one side of the rope. That is why Paul has said:

2 Corinthians 4:8-12

⁸ We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—
¹⁰ always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
¹¹ For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. ¹² So then death is working in us, but life in you.

See, God has never set a problem your way to defeat you. He has only set problems to make u triumphant in life. That is why God has allowed them in your life. -Pastor Phil Pringle
Our God isn't up there testing us whether we'll pull through this one! Or whether we are holding on with our bare fingertips and testing us. No! God is here to take us out of our situations. 'Jesus always takes us out of a place of old, to a new. A place of dry bones, to a place of plentiful harvest. The act of receiving this harvest, the act of receiving is reserved for those who asks. And the act of finding, is reserved for the seekers.

Faith is always a step forward. But fear is always shrinking back.
